Research & Academic Support recognising the important relationships which exist between companies operating in areas of new technologies and academic institutions, Wrexham County Council, together with the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI), has developed a Research and Innovation Centre known as NEWTECH. This organisation, with its specialism in micro-electronics, robotics, bio-technology and health care, is backed by other resources from North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI). The Institute of Health Studies is a joint Clwyd Health Authority/North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI) organisations founded to promote the training of personnel in the health services and the provision of research into health care issues. Wrexham-based, it has a key role to play. The Clwyd Health Authority has decided to use the Institute of Health Studies as a channel through which contact with the pharmaceutical industry is maintained. This provides companies with a single point of contact for the arrangement of clinical trials and equipment testing. North East Wales Institute of Higher Education's (NEWI's) Plas Coch College and new District General Hospital are adjacent to the site.

There are five major universities within one hour of Wrexham, producing 9,000 graduates annually. Lifestyle Companies developing in North East Wales can be sure that the quality of lift and the environment are attractive to key personnel. The area is one of outstanding natural beauty and is close to the North Wales Coast and the mountains of Snowdonia. The historic city of Chester and the commercial centres of Liverpool and Manchester are within easy reach.

Leisure opportunities for the whole family are limitless. High quality housing is readily available in a range of town, village or country locations and education facilities are among the best in the UK.
