CIWEM: Energy Issues in the Water Industry, Wednesday 19th October, St Asaph.
The first presentation focussed on opportunities for Renewable Generation within the UK Water Industry. This looked particularly at the practicalities and economics of implementation, from sizing and designing a system, through to the benefits reaped by the water companies. The main message was that there is considerable experience at doing this and there is a reasonable payback period, particularly at the larger scale.
The second presentation looked at the role of 'knowledge process software' in improving the efficiencies and running cost of water industry plant. The energy and resulting cost savings that could be made were impressive.
