Prison Service announcement cements Wales' credibility as a location for shared service operations

The Prison Service has selected Celtic Springs Business Park in Newport, South Wales as the new location for its UK Finance and HR shared service centre. The government body will create 500 jobs in the city which is to host Europe's largest shared services event, Shared Services Week, from the 17th to 20th of May.

Lloyds TSB creates 200 new jobs

Lloyds TSB Insurance's Newport operation will recruit 200 new customer service staff over the next four months to assist it in its ongoing growth strategy. A mixture of claims administrators and team leaders, the jobs will create a real boost to Newport's local economy, highlighting South Wales' increasing reputation as a target location for contact centres.

Dial in talks with Fairway

Cwmbran-based dial has recently formed a strategic partnership with Fairway PSD. As Wales’ only independent provider of contract contact centre services, dial’s partnership with Fairway, a specialist in handling the dispatch of products, creates an excellent window for expansion. The deal will leverage both dial’s and Fairway’s expertise to provide a one-stop-shop in pitches for the provision of services to prospective clients. This arrangement follows further expansion at dial with the news that they are taking on an additional 120 employees.

The Number gets championship status for age diversity

The Number, an enterprising Cardiff-based directory enquiry company, has recently won champion status from Age Positive, the governments official campaign to encourage age diversity in the workplace. The Number aren’t going to stop there, they aim to double the number of over 50s employed by the end of spring.

A report delivered at the Welsh Contact Centre Conference and Exhibition that the growth of the industry in Wales has been exceptional over the last five years. Key success factors highlighted at the conference for this trend were the high skill level among the Welsh labour pool and the low absence rate that is evident in Wales - at just over 3% it is the lowest in the Britain.
