Welsh organic food and drink producers are heading for London’s Olympia, for one of the industry’s main events of the year.
Now in its eleventh year, Natural and Organic Products Europe (April 15 & 16) is the largest trade event of its type in the UK, and is an annual meeting point for the natural and organic sectors.
Among the Welsh companies exhibiting at the event under the True Taste banner, is Mid Wales-based online farm shop Welsh Farm Organics. They are launching a new Organic Smoked Sausage which is made from organic Welsh pork, with garlic, herbs and spices. It is cured and ready to eat and can be served hot or cold. The company will also be showcasing its range of organic Welsh Black beef, Welsh Mountain Lamb and pork.
Also exhibiting is Farmhouse Freedom Eggs Ltd from Gwehelog near Usk.
The company produces egg products for the catering and retail trade including organic shell eggs, mayonnaise and pickled eggs, and pasteurised eggs for the food service industry.
New company, Sanclêr, which launched its organic yoghurt cheese at the end of last year, will be showing its range of products made from Elfyn and Rhian Davies’ own herd of dairy cows at St Clears near Carmarthen.
The probiotic organic yoghurt cheese comes in three varieties - natural; with basil and garlic; and with chives, and is suitable for vegetarians.
There is no added salt or additives and it can be used as a spread on toast, bagels or sandwiches, as a dip, or in soups, sauces and dressings.
Boncath based Trioni Ltd will be showing its popular Daioni range of branded flavoured Welsh organic milk. A new Cranberry & Raspberry flavour complements the existing traditional flavours of Chocolate, Strawberry, and Banana. Daioni is now available in Tesco stores throughout Wales. Morrisons and Asda.
Finally organic dairy co-operative Calon Wen will be promoting its range of whole and semi-skimmed organic milk which comes in 1 pint, 1 litre and 2 litre bottles. All its milk comes from its 20 farmer members and undergoes minimum processing to retain the goodness and flavour.
Calon Wen Organic Milk is non-homogenised and available in 1 pint, 1 litre and 2 litre bottles, through independent stores, Tesco and Morrisons across Wales and the borders.
