Shoppers sample the True Taste of Wales

Full article

Shoppers will be able to sample some of the best food and drink Wales has to offer during a whistle stop road show of supermarkets across South Wales.
Packed with award-winning products the True Taste road show tour - which is being held as part of St David’s Day celebrations - takes in several supermarkets from Carmarthen to Abergavenny.

The 24 date tour - which starts today (Thursday) in Pyle - aims to promote all Welsh food and drink currently available at supermarkets across Wales including many True Taste winners such as Edwards of Conwy, Bacheldre Watermill , Snowdonia Company, Caws Cenarth Cheese, Cadog cheddar cheese, The Authentic Curry Company, Brecon Carreg, Trioni, Rachels Organic, Tan y Castell, and Halen Mon.

Minister for the Environment, Planning and the Countryside Carwyn Jones said:
“The True Taste brand is growing in recognition as a badge of high quality and I am sure consumers will be interested to sample and hear more about the fantastic food and drink available from producers in Wales.”

Organised and co-ordinated on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Food and Market Development Division by Nerys Howell of Howel Food Consultancy, the road show trailer includes a purpose built display and demonstration kitchen featuring a DVD of True Taste winners.
The tour is supported by Hybu Cig Cymru who is supplying recipes specially created for St David’s Day - many using True Taste winning produce - as well as Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef.

Visitors will be able to taste a selection of food and drink produced in Wales and available in the store, and find out more about Welsh produce and the True Taste Awards.

On St David’s Day itself, the road show will be at Asda in Merthyr Tydfil, where shoppers will receive daffodils grown in Wales.
