Oat-So-Good Time For Welsh Cereal Company In Deal With Tesco

Full article

A South Wales cereal company’s drive to promote healthy living has been boosted by a deal to supply Tesco.

The Oat-So-Good Company which makes granola (oat and seed clusters) cereals will now see its products on shelves at 45 Tesco stores in Wales.

The family-run company was established in 2006 and produces its range of hand-made granolas from its base on the outskirts of Swansea.

“We are a young and innovative company and our aim is to produce cereal products which are not only nutritional but are also a healthy alternative for consumers who don’t want a flaky or highly sugared product which leaves you feeling hungry by mid morning,” said Andrew Grey, the company’s Marketing Manager.
“By constant trials and testing we have managed to produce a series of products which do achieve this.”

Made from the finest ingredients, the range has no added salt, is high in fibre, only contains fruit sugars, and is suitable for diabetics and those following a GI (glycemic index) diet.

The Original and Fruited granolas are available in 500g re-sealable foil bags and recently the company launched 50g foil one serving pouches which are ideal for in-store coffee shops or the hospitality sector.

Added Andrew Grey, “We are delighted Tesco has decided to stock our granola. Now even more people seeking to follow a healthy living plan can enjoy our products.”

Along the way the company has received help and guidance from the Welsh Assembly Government  and its Oat-So-Good Granola, Sultana and Raisin cereal was commended at the 2007/08 True Taste Wales Food and Drink Awards.

Tesco Welsh Marketing Manager, Enfys Fox said, ”More and more people like to know where their food comes from and with these locally produced granola cereals customers will be able to sample a great product produced in Swansea.”
