The WDA Land team, as the previous Land Authorities for Wales, strategically acquired 16ha (40 acres) at Heol West Plas in 1980 for future residential development. Some two acres were allocated for the Bridgend Northern Distributor Road which the WDA has largely funded. A further 20ha (50 acres) have subsequently been acquired at Parc Derwen.
